Luke Peinado

When I was born, I had a hearing impairment, but it took years for my parents to figure out I had this life-changing disability. For years, I spent my life living hearing at 50%, but then at the age of 3, I was diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss. Yet, for me, the ability to hear comes with a physical cost- hearing aids. Many kids would call me names such as ‘headphones’ or simply eye me in a weird way simply because I had a little piece of technology on both of my ears. To this day, I still have hearing aids, and I wear them every single day besides when I sleep or take a shower. Even though it is a physical disability, every single day, I hold my head up high, wearing hearing aids in both ears, and enjoying every sound this world has to share.
